We provide free legal information, advice, and representation to Victorians who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
We can help with problems including:
- Housing debts including rent arrears, repairs, or maintenance
- Tenancy and housing if you are at risk of being evicted into homelessness
- Fines and infringements related to homelessness
- Consumer debts which are causing financial hardship
- Some criminal law issues
If you are eligible, we will book you in for an appointment with our lawyers and you will receive ongoing legal representation, including advice, negotiation, or representation at courts and VCAT.
Am I eligible?
You may be ‘experiencing or at risk of homelessness’ if you are:
- Having a legal problem in Victoria
- At risk of eviction with nowhere to go
- Finding it difficult to stay housed due to your personal circumstances or legal issues
- Sleeping in a park or car
- Moving between refuges or emergency housing
- Couch surfing or staying with friends
When you apply for help online, we’ll ask you a few questions to check your eligibility and help match you with the right Justice Connect service.
