Why work with Justice Connect?
You have an opportunity to join one of Australia’s most impactful legal service organisations.
At Justice Connect, we believe in a fair and just world, where people and communities are supported to engage with and fully participate in our legal and social systems, and avoid the negative impacts on their wellbeing or organisational health that flow from unresolved legal problems.
From preventing homelessness and providing legal support to disaster-affected communities, to helping not-for-profit organisations navigate complex regulatory requirements, we work across different areas of law through our multi-channel and multi-intensity legal services and network of 10,000 pro bono lawyers.
We use digital strategies so our lawyers and social workers can spend their time assisting people disproportionately impacted by the law. We don’t just help people navigate the legal system, we also work to improve it. With our passionate and creative staff, and deep expertise in the law, we leverage casework insights and data to advocate for policy and systems-level change.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion

Justice Connect is a proud member of Diversity Council Australia (DCA) — an independent, national not-for-profit peak body leading diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
We are currently developing our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy to achieve our vision of a diverse and equitable organisation where we live our value of inclusion, and hold each other accountable to this commitment.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people of colour, people from culturally and linguistically diverse and refugee backgrounds, people with diverse religious beliefs, gender diverse people, LGBTQIA+ people, and people living with a disability are strongly encouraged to apply.
Other ways to get involved

Practical Legal Training (PLTs)
What is Practical Legal Training?
You’ve finished your law degree and are almost ready to start your legal career. The final step before being admitted as a lawyer is Practical Legal Training.
With Justice Connect, you can complete your PLT placement while making a real difference in people’s lives. Sharpen your skills while helping people facing disadvantage and contributing to a cause you’re passionate about — access to justice.
It’s also a great way to meet new people, gain hands-on experience and develop professional skills and networks with a respected legal charity.
Justice Connect regularly recruits PLT students for placements of at least 50 days in our Melbourne and Sydney offices. To express an interest in entering the PLT program, create a profile to join the Justice Connect Talent Community and be the first to hear about new opportunities in the team.

Secondments
What is a secondment?
Secondments at Justice Connect are great ways for commercial lawyers to increase access to justice. Lawyers from our member firms join one of our legal programs for a full-time placement, typically lasting three to six months.
As a secondee, you’ll use your legal expertise to deliver impactful responses to unmet legal need. Secondee solicitors work closely with Justice Connect teams and engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including pro bono practitioners at our member firms, barristers at the Victorian Bar, the Federation of Community Legal Centres, Victoria Legal Aid, governments and not-for-profit organisations.
The work includes assessing inquiries for assistance, researching and preparing pro bono referrals to our members, preparing law reform submissions, and supporting innovative interventions that address unmet legal need.
Contact your firm’s Pro Bono Coordinator to learn more.

Volunteering
Why volunteer with us?
By volunteering with Justice Connect, you can make a vital contribution to our work designing and delivering high impact interventions to increase access to legal support and progress social justice.
It’s also an opportunity to learn more about how we provide that help, working closely with our team of wonderful in-house and pro bono lawyers.
If you volunteer with us, you’re part of the team, including joining us at seminars and training programs, and we encourage you to take part in fundraising and social events. Several former volunteers have stayed connected with us afterwards, becoming pro bono lawyers working with us, or performing practical legal training with us.
To express an interest in volunteering, create a profile to join the Justice Connect Talent Community and be the first to hear about new opportunities in the team.
