How our pro bono partnerships work
Over fifty of Australia’s best law firms and legal teams are members of Justice Connect.
Alongside them are community legal centres and professional associations, including the Law Institute of Victoria and the Victorian Bar.
Pro bono is in our DNA. When Justice Connect was founded in 1992, it was to build a culture of pro bono work in Australia. Today, we continue to help that culture grow and evolve so that more people can access justice.
Our members
Our valued network of over 10,000 pro bono lawyers offer their time, expertise, and dedication to prevent the negative consequences of legal problems experienced by individuals and not-for-profit organisations.
With their help, we are able to deliver impactful responses to unmet legal need, and improve the community’s wellbeing.

Our three membership options
Our membership model helps ensure that all our members gain access to pro bono opportunities for the people and community groups that need it most.
We have three levels of membership: Strategic, Engaged and Active.

Strategic Partners
What is a Strategic Partner?
This is our top-tier membership. These select firms will have priority access to all our clinics, and engage with us on a strategic level. Strategic Partners have hands-on access to innovative digital and advocacy projects, dedicated support contacts within our team, and ongoing contact with our CEO. More than simply members, Strategic Partners shape the way we do pro bono. We ensure their lawyers have ongoing support and training, and are able to get the most from their pro bono work, while having the most impact.

Engaged Partners
What is an Engaged Partner?
We work with our Engaged Partners to have a deep impact on access to justice through the delivery of clinics and specialist pro bono programs. These firms will have opportunities to participate in key discussions and initiatives to tackle social justice and human rights issues to help shape the future of pro bono. Our Engaged Partners will also be involved in development of pilots and projects, networking events and have access to specialist training and our Pro Bono Portal.

Active Partners
What is an Active Partner?
Our Active Members are able to boost their pro bono impact through Justice Connect’s established referral programs, including working with our Connections team and Not-for-profit Law teams. Active Members have access to our award-winning Pro Bono Portal and training opportunities from Justice Connect experts.
