We can provide free legal information, advice, and representation to renters in Victoria who are at risk of being evicted or losing their home.

We can help with problems including:

  • Notices to vacate
  • Tenancies impacted by family violence
  • Creation and transfer of tenancies
  • Compliance orders made against you
  • Housing debts including rent arrears, repairs, or maintenance

If you are eligible, we will book you in for an appointment with our lawyers and you will receive ongoing legal representation, including advice, negotiation, and representation at courts and VCAT.

Unfortunately, we cannot assist with all housing and tenancy issues including repairs or help to find housing.

You may be eligible if you are:

  • Facing a legal problem in Victoria
  • At risk of being evicted or leaving your rental home with nowhere else to go
  • Experiencing family violence in your rental, or
  • Experiencing financial hardship

When you apply for help online, we’ll ask you a few questions to check your eligibility and help match you with the right Justice Connect service.

You can also call us on 1800 616 313 (free from landlines) or 03 8636 4408, (Mon-Fri: 9:30AM-1PM, 2-5PM).
