Disability rights

We help people whose legal issues arise as result of their disability. We connect people with our network of pro bono lawyers who can help them understand their rights and resolve their legal problem.

Focus areas for our work on disability rights

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

Accessing the NDIS and getting the right support under an NDIS plan can be difficult. If someone disagrees with a decision the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) has made, they can appeal the decision to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT). Unfortunately, we are currently unable to assist individuals who require assistance with this. We may consider referrals from pro bono firms, barristers or community legal centres. If you are an individual or an advocate seeking assistance in your NDIA matter, we recommend that you contact your local Legal Aid Commission for referrals or your local community legal centre.

Disability discrimination

Many people living with a disability still experience discrimination at work, in education, and when trying to access housing and other services. If you have made a discrimination complaint under either state or federal legislation in Victoria or New South Wales, we may be able to arrange legal advice on your claim and legal help running your case.
